Ocean Dunes, King Island Tasmania

Ocean Dunes Hole #4

Ocean Dunes Hole #4

Ocean Dunes was Jeannine’s first stop in Australia after a twenty-four hour non-stop journey from California. Graeme Grant, co-owner and architect, met her at the King Island airport and led her to the nearby course. A dirt track that looks like an old farming road off the main road leads up to a hilltop of the future location of the clubhouse overlooking the coastline. The view was breathtaking and sent shivers up her spine. She jumped into Graeme’s truck for a tour of the completed front nine and then the back nine that are still under construction. Given the setting, the natural dunes, and rocky coastline, Graeme’s enthusiasm and passion for the project are well warranted. Once completed, this new course is bound to draw dedicated golfers from around the world to this small Tasmanian island along the Bass Strait off the southwestern coast of Australia.
